One of the ideas that the typographers developed was to use symbols to represent the various sections of the journal; a different symbol would correspond to visual arts, short story, non-fiction, poetry, etc. This is a series of nautical symbols that Katlin developed. You will see them embedded in some of the spreads a little later.
These graphics are terrific. I love the colors, but they seem very minimal and contemporary when placed alongside the designs we have seen so far (i.e. Heaven's cover or Katlin's Table of Content). At some point a decision will have to be made as to whether we want a contemporary, victorian, or some other solution to unify the journal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for spelling my name right. (:
ReplyDeleteThe colors aren't really going to be those presented here, unless we have an odd design scheme... but I don't see that happening. I'm sure they'll be put to use in a proper way.
I'm still hoping we can actually put the Art category as Arrrt. Any opposed?
