Katlin's Cover

  1. Well I lose. Haha, I think the text is TOO scripted, but that's what Mr. Adams suggested. I tried to incorporate a piece of Scrimshaw, but it didn't come across as I wanted.

The font I used was TychosRecipe but the capital letters are a different font, Ruritania.

  2. I agree with you Katlin, haha. Perhaps if it just read 'Scrimshaw' and only had one heavily scripted letter it wouldn't be so much. Having the 'T' and the 'S' with all that fanciness is too much for my taste (:.

I like the idea of incorporating scrimshaw art into the cover. I tried it myself and failed..epically, haha. Perhaps if you used another filtering effect on it and made it warmer feeling and have the scrimshaw art look like the ivory that it's on. It could give it a different feel... (: Just a suggestion, dunno if it's even a good one. Haha juuust throwing it out there :D

  3. yeah, I don't really dig the whole vector look; seems too modern. I like the idea of only one heavily scripted letter; probably the "S" with "the" being a much smaller script

  4. Yeah, I'm not fond of the vector look either, but I didn't want to just take someone's photograph and use it without changing it. I don't feel like a filter would be enough to call it appropriation, though. ):

  5. I agree that the idea you had was a great one; but the portrayal with the vector (while it looks good) doesn't fit this project very well in my eyes. The suggestions on the fonts are all good ones, I would also say maybe moving 2011 below the rest of the text. It looks almost out of place down there by itself.
